Grace Lenamae Powell Balew, 86, of Call died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Jasper Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Watson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born in Kirbyville, she was a former resident of Houston and had lived in Call 47 years. She was former operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone; Owner of Key Filling Station in Houston; worked at Cash and Dash in Buna; JOC Stop in Kirbyville; Manchac’s in Call; and Dee’s in Trout Creek. She was member of the Bengal Guard at Orange, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Barney Balew; sons, Billy Barney Balew, Jr. and Michael Ted Balew; brother, Cedric Ted Powell; sisters, Nancy Crilla Ferguson and G.V. Malone.
She is survived by sons, Newton Henry Balew and wife Nancy of San Augustine and Billy Wynne Balew of Bon Wier; daughters, Rhonda Grace Jones and husband Dean of Call; Theresa Ann Denmon and husband Allen of Kirbyville and Mary Inez Balew of Kirbyville; brother, Burnett Powell of Call; sister, Dow Mormann of Three Rivers, TX; 18 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
